Spiritual Care at CAMH
Twice a month on Sunday afternoon, Bathurst volunteers lead informal worship services in two units at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Clients in in these units are unable to attend service in CAMH’s Sacred Space so the opportunity to worship comes to them. Services include resources and spiritual practices from the Christian tradition as well as from a variety of faiths and cultures.
Since the start of the pandemic the CAMH team has created posters to be posted twice a month in the units where they would ordinarily be present. The team also gathers in a short prayer circle to offer prayers for CAMH clients and staff, and for the world. Once a month the prayer circle is recorded, and the link is shared with CAMH clients and staff.
The CAMH team also aims to promote openness to conversation about mental health both within Bathurst and in the wider community. Their hope is that Bathurst becomes an even more welcoming place for people looking for a spiritual community that actively supports mental health.
Connect
We hope that our presence is a way of bringing love and the Spirit into the lives of clients at CAMH and letting them know they are not alone.
